London Sock Company not only wanted to increase relevant traffic and drive sales from their website, but they also wanted to position the brand digitally as a high-end provider of quality socks.

Partnership

The first aspect of our strategy was simply good hygiene; optimising the website for London Sock Company’s product range terms.

Initially, the founders believed a successful strategy would have to focus on high volume, generic keywords such as ‘mens socks’ and ‘socks’. However, our experience and research highlighted the benefits of ranking for significant numbers of ‘long tail‘ (more niche) keywords that implied a little more buying intent –  terms such as ‘socks to wear with black tie’ and ‘socks for date night’.

This strategy was complemented by leveraging the company’s partnership with David Gandy, along with a combination of on-site SEO enhancements and backlink development. These were developed with directory submissions, online PR, article submission, blog creation and engaging with notable bloggers from the fashion industry.

Our Impact

Initial successes included a £2,000 sale for a wedding party after our target keyword began ranking on the first page, along with a number of other long and short tail keywords.

In a market as competitive as e-commerce, our strategy has allowed London Sock Company to establish a strong online presence. Not only that, they’re also now able to compete against international companies and industry giants such as Amazon and top domestic department stores.
